Abstract

Critical patients are patients who experience physiological instability, so that patients experience complex hypermetabolic responses to trauma, patients can also experience changes in body metabolism, hormonal, immunological and nutritional homeostasis. Complex therapy programs and monitoring critical patients require nurses to focus on physiological and hemodynamic conditions including oxygen saturation (Pratiwi, 2020, in Idris, D. N. T et al., 2021).

Research Method: This researcher used an analytical observational research type with a cross sectional research design, namely the researcher analyzed the relationship between nurse knowledge and the role of nurses in handling critical patients in the intensive care unit of Morowali District Hospital. Morowali in 2023.

The results of statistical tests using Chi-Square Tests show a p-value (Asymptotic Significance 2-sided) of 0.001 (<0.05), so it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows that of the 30 respondents, 27 respondents (90%) had good knowledge of the nurse's role in handling critical patients, and 3 (10%) respondents had sufficient knowledge of the nurse's role in handling critical patients..
