The Relationship Between Adherence to Taking Medication and Increased Blood Pressure in Hypertension Sufferers at the Wemas Health Center, South Sorong Regency

Abstract

Hypertension is a disease that is most commonly suffered by Indonesian people and can occur as a result of one of the problems that often arises from changes in lifestyle, such as consuming foods with high salt levels. Hypertension is thought to be the cause of various serious diseases and their complications. Explain the relationship between adherence to taking medication and increasing blood pressure in hypertensive sufferers. In this research, the author used a cross sectional research design. The population in this study were all 27 people suffering from hypertension in Wernas Health Center Village using non-probability sampling technique with Purposive Sampling. The instruments in this study used a questionnaire and SOP for measuring blood pressure. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of 0.05. Based on the research, it can be seen that almost all of the respondents who suffer from mild hypertension 23 (85.2%), a small portion of severe hypertension 2 respondents (7.4%) are almost entirely compliant in taking medication 25 (92.%) while a small percentage of respondents suffer from moderate hypertension 2 (7.4%) a small percentage were quite compliant in taking medication (7.4%). The results of the Spearmans rho test show that the probability value or error level (p: 0.001) is much smaller than the significant standard (a: 0.05), which means there is a relationship between adherence to taking medication and increasing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers at the Wernas Health Center. As a health worker, we always provide motivation and encouragement to the public on the importance of taking medication to prevent hypertension and other diseases.
